POSING

After looking hard at this photo of college students at Tulane in 1930, I edited my own inspiration. What freedom these woman have, yet they're required to pose.

Before I published my judgement, I was captivated again by the composition. The subtle movement of water. Stasis of right angles, circles and rectangles. Surface and depth.

One of two freshwater pools in Louisiana. Sophie Newcombe College. Edwin L. Wisherd for "Louisiana, Land of Perpetual Romance", National Geographic magazine.

A TIME TO TALK: CASTINE

When a friend calls to me from the road
And slows his horse to a meaning walk,
I don't stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven't hoed,
And shout from where I am, What is it?
No, not as there is a time to talk.
I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground,
Blade-end up and five feet tall,
And plod: I go up to the stone wall
For a friendly visit.

IN A ZONE WITH THE IDEA

Still nourishing this idea. The salon. The gathering place. Inspiration in the flesh, place for you to come and join me and always find the buzz.

MAKE IT YOUR SALON

Would you be inspired in a living room like Diana Vreeland's?

"AS WELL AS I WAS ABLE"

Te Deum

Not because of victories
I sing,
having none,
but for the common sunshine,
the breeze,
the largess of the spring.

Not for victory
but for the day's work done
as well as I was able;
not for a seat upon the dais
but at the common table.
